Jurgen Klopp could win the German Cup for a second time in his last match as Borussia Dortmund manager on Saturday.

The 47-year-old is to step down at the end of the season, having led Dortmund to the Bundesliga title in 2011 and a league and cup double in 2012.
"To crown this amazing time with a such a moment would only be fair," said Klopp, who was appointed in 2008.
Wolfsburg, who finished second in the league, 10 points behind winners Bayern Munich, have never won the German Cup.
The Wolves, whose only league title came in 2009, reached the final in 1995 but lost 3-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach.
Dieter Hecking's side will pay tribute to former player Junior Malanda, who was killed in a car accident aged 20 in January, by wearing a special shirt for the match in Berlin.
Dortmund, Champions League runners-up in 2013, were bottom of the German league table in February but recovered to secure seventh and a Europa League place with victory over Werder Bremen in Klopp'sfinal home game in charge.
"It was our target at the start of the season to be here now and I'm happy we are after such a difficult season," added Klopp.
"We still have something left to do. It's not my aim to be the hero tomorrow - I'm happy to leave that to the players."
The match will also be Sebastian Kehl's last for Dortmund, with the 35-year-old midfielder set to retire at the end of the season after 14 years with the club.

Vidic Is Part Of United's 'Budget XI'

Biggest news of the day isn't transfer, sacking or even Fifa corruption related. This just in: EdQuothTheRaven manages to keep the length a mail to only 5 lines. Conor (Stay tuned for an unbiased view from Brian LFC), Drogheda ...And Then He Sent This Long One Before this tuxedo goes back to the rental shop, I'd like to hand out a few more awards to those who helped make this season so memorable. Unsung heroes of the season: The scouts at Newcastle and West Ham who recommended the signings of Ayoze Perez and Diafra Sakho respectively. Perez was acquired from Tenerife in the Liga Adelante, and Sakho from Metz in Ligue 2. Neither had played top flight football, yet both made a more significant impact than could have been expected. Guest pundit of the season: Henry Winter, for his appearance on Match of the Day 2 in January. Along with Amy Lawrence on Football Focus, he proved that having a good quality writer alongside the ex-pros makes for much better discussion and analysis. Good egg of the season: Tyrone Mings - in April, word got out via social media he had paid off all his family's debts; at the start of the season, some Ipswich fans had bought shirts with his name on only for Town to change his squad number, and Mings bought them new shirts out of his own pocket. Rear view mirror award: Stuart Pearce at Nottingham Forest - a legend from the club's past hoped could inspire their current crop of underachievers. However, where Pearce the player was feared, Pearce the manager was pitied. Forest try to ignore what they could not forgive. Helenio Herrera award for tactical mastery: Garth Crooks - no one has shown greater flexibility in attempting to accommodate all the best players available to him than Crooks. The Dr Pepper award for "what's the worst that could happen?":Harry Redknapp, for attempting to play three at the back, where the three were Clint Hill, Rio Ferdinand and Richard Dunne, at a combined age of over 100. "Me? No, you must be thinking of someone else" quote of the season: Everyone last summer who was touting Steve Bruce for the Manchester United job, who have suddenly gone very quiet. Odious managerial quote of the season: "That was a real Neil Warnock performance" - the Crystal Palace manager immediately destroys any goodwill his team had garnered for beating Liverpool 3-1. Most egotistical ex-player quote of the season: "But I am Sol Campbell". Quote of the season: Johnny & Al's Football Folk on TV: Glenn Hoddle - "You might argue that being forced to sit next to Ian Wright in a chafing pair of trousers in 90 degree heat is a punishment for sins in a past life, as indeed is working at QPR" Man of the season: Raheem Sterling. People just wouldn't shut up about him all season long. He was talked up as the best young player in Europe, then he was too tired to play for England, then he rejected a contract, then he was played out of position, and finally he wanted to leave. Funnily enough, all of these things contributed to an underwhelming season for both him and his team. Ed Quoththeraven, CPFC the Glaziers, Notts Totti Is The King Of The 10s In response to Dave (never had a ponytail though) Dublin, the greatest second striker / number 10 of all time is one Francesco Totti. I could write on forever about my appreciation for this man but this article already provides an excellent summation of how truly great he is.

The Page That Has The Bantidote Mediawatch has to check the year after checking the BBC website, Steven Howard says that Liverpool can 'laugh all the way to the bank' even though Raheem is useless...

Mediawatch has checked, double-checked and checked again: It turns out it is 2015 after all. The cause of our confusion? This brand-new feature on the BBC website: 'Gerrard v Lampard: Who was better?' Over 2200 words later, Phil McNulty, BBC Chief Football Writer and Liverpool Echo alumnus, concludes: 'But if a choice has to be made it would be Gerrard.' So the same answer as in 2002, 2007, 2010 and all the other sodding years in between. Thanks. For. That. Greed To Know Basis Who do you call when you want a cantankerous sod to put a young whippersnapper in his place? Steven Howard, of course, the 'man at the heart of The Sun' who is always ready to let rip about a young player who is 'greedy, manipulating and determined to get his own way'. Mediawatch prefers the word 'ambitious', but we digress. A few things, Steven... * This idea that Liverpool could replicate the situation with Luis Suarez, and then 'laugh all the way to the bank' next summer? You seem to be forgetting the tiny point that Suarez signed a massive new contract worth £200,000 a week just months before he left for Barcelona. That's why Liverpool could 'laugh all the way to the bank'. If Sterling does not sign a new deal, he simply depreciates in value. Nobody will be laughing all the way to anywhere. * You say his performances have been a 'massive disappointment' and 'he has scored just 11 goals in 52 Liverpool appearances this campaign'. That still makes him Liverpool's top scorer from open play; he is just 20. Do you think that might possibly be one of the reasons he wants to leave? * You say he has 'gone on the missing list' and 'fans always know the real story', which is why he was booed when he collected his Young Player of the Year award. So why the hell did they vote for him in the first place after such a 'massive disappointment' of a season? Why didn't they vote for Emre Can or Lazar Markovic or Jordon Ibe instead? It's almost like you/they decided he is sh*t just because he has had the gall to want more... * You really want to to do the "too tired" to play thing again? Of course you do. After all, that was only seven sodding months ago. Bigger Is Better 'Nobody is bigger than a club who have won five European Cups and 18 league titles,' says Robbie Savage in the Daily Mirror. (Except Luis Suarez. He was loads bigger). Lawro, Lawro Bull 'Aston Villa's 6-1 defeat at Southampton was one of several strange results last weekend. I'm not surprised I didn't get many predictions right with scores like that,' says Mark Lawrenson in an attempt at mitigation for getting just one result (Manchester City beating Swansea) right across ten Premier League games last weekend. Obviously the same problem did not befall This Is England actor Thomas Turgoose, who picked five correct results, with one perfect score. Here Comes The Bride Headline in The Sun: 'England call-up forces Austin to scrap stag do.' Opening paragraph in The Sun: 'CHARLIE AUSTIN landed his first England call-up - but has been forced to cancel his honeymoon.' In Mediawatch's experience, they are rather different.

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool cancel meeting with forward

Liverpool believe there would be no point in having a meeting when the player's representative is quoted as saying a new deal would not be signed regardless of the figure. In the newspaper interview, Ward also used a four-letter expletive to describe ex-Red Jamie Carragher, who has criticised Sterling's actions. "He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing," said Ward. "My job is to make sure I do the best with them [my clients]. If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter." Sterling's contract runs until 2017 and he told Reds manager Brendan Rodgers before the Premier League draw at Chelsea on 10 May he wants to leave the club. He was set to formalise his request in a meeting with Rodgers and Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday, which will now not happen. Sterling denied being a "money-grabber" in a BBC Sport interview last month, but has come in for criticism from some of Liverpool's former players, including Carragher. Ward added: "Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players - none of those things matter to me. It is not relevant."

Sunderland safe after draw Sunderland ensured their Premier League survival after grinding out a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Arsenal on Wednesday.

The Gunners created a host of chances at the Emirates but the closest they came to breaking the deadlock was when Billy Jones deflected a cross on to his own crossbar. Sunderland also had opportunities of their own but Steven Fletcher twice failed to beat David Ospina. But the Black Cats will be more than satisfied with a point that guarantees their top-flight status for next season and means either Newcastle or Hull will be relegated on the final day. The result also all-but guarantees Arsenal third place and automatic Champions League group stage qualification as they are now three points ahead of Manchester United with a superior goal difference. Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat, who was brought in with nine games remaining to rescue the club from relegation, was left in tears at the final whistle as his mission was completed. The Dutchman has lost just two matches since taking charge and the draw at the Emirates continued an impressive end-of-season surge that has seen them go five matches unbeaten. Advocaat made just one change from the draw against Leicester at the weekend as he recalled Adam Johnson to the starting line-up for the first time since February. Hector Bellerin provided an early threat down the right with a couple of dangerous crosses while Jack Wilshere was just beaten to the ball by a sliding Costel Pantilimon. The Gunners continued to create chances but none really tested the Sunderland keeper as Mesut Ozil and Wilshere both blasted over the bar and Olivier Giroud also missed the target with a volley. Sunderland largely wasted the few opportunities they did have on the break and did not have a shot on goal until Johnson shot into the stands late in the half. Advocaat, who has never been relegated, looked to freshen things up for the second half as Jack Rodwell and Fletcher replaced Connor Wickham and Danny Graham. The move almost paid immediate dividends as Arsenal goalkeeper Ospina had to be alert to come out and block an angled shot from Fletcher and then stood up at the other post to deny left-back Patrick van Aanholt, who had surged forwards on the overlap. That scare sparked Arsenal into life, with Giroud getting on the end of a whipped ball in by Bellerin, which Pantilimon turned away at point-blank range, before the Sunderland goalkeeper plucked a goal-bound header from Kieran Gibbs out of the air at the far post. Arsenal opened Sunderland up again as Ozil picked out Alexis Sanchez in a crowded box, but his shot was blocked. Sunderland then broke suddenly through Fletcher, but his attempted chip was palmed behind by Ospina. Fletcher then wasted another excellent chance when Van Aanholt played the ball across the Arsenal penalty area from the left, but could only stab the ball over the crossbar from six yards. Theo Walcott was the next to go close as he clipped the ball over the on-rushing keeper, but Sebastian Coates came across to hack it off the line. Sunderland then enjoyed a huge slice of fortune as a cross from the right deflected off Jones and on to the bar. Arsenal continued to press Sunderland back, with substitute Tomas Rosicky, Giroud and Walcott all going close, but the visitors held on, sparking wild celebrations among the travelling support at the full-time whistle.

F365's Top Ten Centre-Mids Of The Season For the first time in an age, neither Steven Gerrard nor Frank Lampard can be considered among the best central midfielders in the league. So who makes our top ten?

It would have been easy to overlook Toure altogether, after such an obvious and well-publicised fall from grace. He featured highly on a previous list of fading stars and would likely win at a canter were we to rank the players to have fallen furthest this season. Still, having said all of that, are there ten or more better central midfielders in the Premier League? Even as this pale shadow of his former self, Toure has contributed eight goals to City's cause this season, more than any other midfielder who regularly plays as part of a deeper-lying two. He has also made more passes per game than any other player in the league. However, rather than eulogise too much about the Ivorian, let's remember the real story here: Toure has gone from being arguably the best in his position in the entire league to us seriously questioning whether he should be squeezed into this list of the top ten. 9) Ander Herrera (Manchester United) He would almost certainly be higher in this list were it not for Louis van Gaal taking so long to abandon his experiment of playing Wayne Rooney in midfield, but Herrera still goes down as a definite success in his first Premier League season. He has, as is generally expected of foreign players in their maiden campaign on these shores, struggled with the pace of the game at times, while the team in general suffered from Van Gaal's stubbornness in sticking with 3-5-2 earlier in the season. But Herrera broke into the team in late November and has played a crucial role in the form which has seen Manchester United almost certainly secure a return to the Champions League. He has provided more expansive, forward passing - many players in this position opt to play it endlessly safe - while five goals and four assists from 17 Premier League starts is a more-than-acceptable tally for a player that has on occasion been asked to play as the deepest of United's midfielders. That only Antonio Valencia in the squad has made more tackles per game highlights Herrera's all-round ability.

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has added the Football Writers' Association player of the year award to his Professional Footballers' Association prize for this season. The 24-year-old has scored 19 goals this campaign to help Chelsea lift the Premier League title.

Sticking with rugby league and Warrington have rejected a bid from Championship leaders Leigh for veteran hooker Micky Higham, insisting he remains central to their plans. The 34-year-old Higham is an ever-present with the Wolves this season, his seventh at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, and has started the last seven matches ahead of reigning Man of Steel Daryl ClarkSwitching to rugby now (league in particular) and Keighley Cougars have announced that they will honour the remainder of the contract of Danny Jones, who died from a cardiac arrest after collapsing during a League One game at London Skolars on 3 May.To the Championship now and Derby County chief executive Sam Rush has insisted their end-of-season review must not be too "draconian" and risk losing sight of the club's progress. A dismal run of just two wins in their last 13 games meant the Rams missed out on a Championship play-off place on the final day of the season. Rush told BBC Radio Derby there was no way to "dress up" the disappointment. "But you have to look at the whole and be a little bit careful not be too draconian in any assessment," he added.

Gomis boosts Swansea Euro bid Bafetimbi Gomis’ late header grabbed Swansea an unlikely 1-0 victory at Arsenal to move just one point behind Southampton in the race for the Europa League.

Arsene Wenger is looking to lead his side to their highest Premier League finish in 10 years but their chances were dealt a blow as Gomis' 85th-minute header crossed the line, despite David Ospina's attempt to claw it away. Arsenal protested the ball had not gone in but referee Kevin Friend, aided by goal-line technology, was in no doubt as the goal stood to send Swansea to victory. Garry Monk’s side, who are now well in with a chance of Europa League qualification with two games remaining, also had former Arsenal goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski to thank for their victory as he made a string of excellent saves in the second half. In particular, a fine double save from Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott helped send the Gunners to a first league defeat in 10 and hand Swansea only their second league double over Arsenal. For the first time in Wenger’s reign he named the same starting line-up for the fifth consecutive Premier League game after Aaron Ramsey was passed fit following a leg injury. And Arsenal tried to start in the same vein that has seen them win nine of their last 10 league games as Ramsey combined with Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin before clipping a cross to Olivier Giroud, who headed over from 10 yards. Monk had set up to hit Arsenal on the break and it nearly worked as Ashley Williams’s long pass nearly dropped into the path of Nathan Dyer, but Ospina was quickly off his line to head the ball to safety. Arsenal were trying to pass their way through but it was to Swansea’s credit that all the hosts could muster was Giroud’s curled effort from 25 yards which flew wide of Fabianski’s goal. The former Arsenal man would have been expecting a busier night but the Gunners failed to register a single shot on target in the first half. However, with 21 of the last 22 goals in this fixture in all competitions coming in the second half of the match, Wenger would have been pleading for patience from his troops and a much improved performance. And that is what he got as Arsenal probed to make the breakthrough with Bellerin breaking free down the right before crossing for Giroud, but he was beaten to the ball by Federico Fernandez.

Manchester City don't need an overhaul because they have the best squad, says Jamie Carragher

Manchester City have the best squad in the Premier League, says Jamie Carragher, so they don’t need to make wholesale changes in the summer. Chelsea became champions with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, taking the title away from Manuel Pellegrini’s men, who beat Tottenham by the same scoreline. Last year’s champions lie 13 points behind the Blues in second place, but Sky Sports expert Carragher insists they shouldn’t have to make many changes in personnel. Manchester City v QPR Manchester City 2/9 Draw 5/1 QPR 9/1 Football Betting Bet £5 Get £20 Free “It’s not about City needing a major overhaul,” he said on Super Sunday. “At the start of the season we’d all agreed – maybe even now – they’ve still probably got the best squad. Manuel Pellegrini refused to be drawn on his future at City 1 Manuel Pellegrini refused to be drawn on his future at City “Chelsea have won the league and they’ve been the best team, no doubt, but for the last few months they’ve had Drogba at 36, Remy whose had injury problems and isn’t top drawer. “You compare that to the strikers City have got and the squad players they have – they’ve got the better squad.” City go into the final three fixtures of the season with doubts over the future of manager Manuel Pellegrini, who avoided questions on his future after the game at White Hart Lane. But Thierry Henry believes it is more important the club makes a decision on Yaya Toure, who has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium, and where the midfielder is deployed if he stays put. “The massive key for me is Yaya Toure,” he said. “What is he going to do next season? “If he stays, there is no way he can play in front of the back four any more. He has to play higher. I think it becomes really difficult for him to play there.

Juventus forward Alvaro Morata has a point to prove to Real Madrid

We reflect on five talking points from the KC Stadium after Arsenal claimed a 3-1 win over relegation-threatened Hull City. Alexis Sanchez scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the season either side of an Aaron Ramsey strike as the Gunners claimed their ninth win in 10 games in the Monday Night Football, moving level on points with second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand. Hull pulled a goal back through Stephen Quinn after the break, but the result was never in doubt and the Tigers remain just one point clear of the drop zone. After putting in a man of the match performance in their 3-1 win against Hull, Gary Neville was impressed with Arsenal's Santi Cazorla. “It’s glorious football by Arsenal. They’re so hard to stop in this kind of mood.” Alan Smith summed it up in the commentary box as the Gunners blew Hull away with a devastating, high-intensity first half performance – and at the heart of it all was Arsenal’s two-footed magician Cazorla. After Sanchez broke the deadlock with his deflected free kick, the little Spaniard set up Ramsey’s goal with a laser-guided 50-yard pass which had Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville purring at half-time. “It was absolutely fantastic from Cazorla,” he said. “It’s unbelievable that pass. “We’ve seen three or four passes in that half that were absolutely out of this world from Arsenal. Their passing in that first half, particularly out of the central areas, has been absolutely fantastic.” Cazorla’s assist was his ninth of the Premier League season – only Cesc Fabregas, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Angel Di Maria have more – and in total he made a game-high 77 passes with 96.1 per cent accuracy. Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher was equally impressed and admitted Cazorla’s displays in central midfield have surprised him. “He was brilliant, rightly given Man of the Match. No one can ever criticise him, he’s a lovely footballer, but the surprising thing for me is that he’s actually performing like that in central midfield. I’d have never said he’s a central midfielder, the performances he’s giving are a shock to me.” Ramsey resurgence

Chelsea are the example to other clubs, says Gary Neville

Other Premier League clubs should take Chelsea's lead if they are to be more successful, and signing Gareth Bale would see them dominate for years to come, says Gary Neville. Jose Mourinho’s side wrapped up the title on Sunday, their first since 2010, with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. And Sky Sports pundit Neville, speaking on Monday Night Football, believes other clubs in England can use Chelsea’s playing style as a shining example. Jose Mourinho won his third title in England on Sunday Jose Mourinho won his third title in England on Sunday “I can understand some fans saying "boring, boring Chelsea", but when managers of other clubs comment on the style of Chelsea I find that ridiculous. I can't understand it. They've got no right to. “We watched all our teams get smashed in Europe this season, Chelsea to be fair got knocked out this season and that was their one blip, but they didn't lose, they actually drew in those two games against PSG. “They are actually one of the best teams at killing games. Atletico Madrid won La Liga last year, but they didn't win it playing Barcelona football. They won it playing a different style.”

Luis Suarez scored his first hat-trick for Barcelona as they edged closer to the La Liga title with an emphatic victory over bottom side Cordoba.

The 28-year-old scored Barca's second - after Croatia midfielder Rakitic had opened the scoring with a half volley - when he finished from close range. Suarez headed in after the interval and rounded off the scoring late on with a clinical finish after the ball had fallen kindly to him from a deflected shot. Argentina forward Messi passed a half-century of goals in a season for the fourth time in his career with a header and a tap in, while Brazil forward Neymar scored from the penalty spot and Spain defender Pique headed in from a corner. Barcelona, who thumped Getafe 6-0 earlier this week, will secure the title if they win their last three La Liga games, even if Real triumph in all of their remaining fixtures. However, should the teams finish level on points, Real would become champions for the first time since 2012. Spanish teams who finish level on points are separated by their head-to-head record - not goal difference - and Madrid have the superior record this season.
